Fish Oil to 5000 Pupils

September 15th, 2006

School authorities in Durham County continue to investigate whether omega-3 supplements can improve pupils performance in school. This time 5000 teenagers will be given fish oil capsules to find out if this will improve their results at the GCSE exams next summer. The results from the study are expected in August 2007.

The pharmaceutical company Equazen has donated Eye q capsules valued at one millon pounds to the Durham school district. Previous experience of the Durham trials has yielded significant improvements in concentration and reading skills among younger pupils.
